St. Luke's has a tradition of strong lay
ministry. The Cathedral offers a variety of programs and ministries
designed to enhance our spiritual growth and foster our sense of
community.
Among the opportunities for service are:
The Eucharist Team: This group of youth and adult acolytes, vergers,
lay readers and others assist the clergy during services.
The Flower Guild and Altar Guild: These committees arrange the altar
flowers and care of the altars, linens and candles and prepare the
altar for the Eucharist.
The Cathedral Choir: Volunteer auditioned group that rehearses on
Thursday evenings and sings at the 10 a.m. and special services.
Cathedral Youth Choir: Rehearsals on Thursday afternoons at 4:00 pm.
Healing Team: Clergy and lay members who offer prayers of healing
during the 10 am Eucharist.
Kneeler Guild:
Express your faith through needlework by making a prayer kneeler for
your cathedral. The ‘Sewing Bees’ combine fellowship with sewing.
Class on Tues. 6-8 pm or Thurs 9-11am.
Outreach: The committee that manages all aspects of Cathedral Outreach
Parish Life:
Coordinates and develops all programs for new membership and the
retention of members in an effort to provide a comfortable and easy
environment for parishioners to get to know one another. A
communication link for all programs and to help parishioners with
special projects related to the community at large. Some of these
programs are Coffee Hour, Community Night Dinner, Foyers, Hospitality,
Newcomers and Pastoral Care.
Soup Kitchen: Located at Preble Street Resource Center. Volunteers
prepare and serve meals to the homeless, Saturday and Sunday, noon,
one weekend per month, as well as occasional holiday meals.
