Wednesday
Bible Studies Move to Sundays.

Speaker’s Forum entitled “Myanmar in
Crisis: Calamitous Challenge: Mynamar/Burma State of Affairs – From
Whence, Why and What Next?”
will be held Monday, June 16th at 6:30pm at Church of St.
Mary the Virgin in Falmouth. The speaker will be the Rev. Katharine
Babson, the official missionary of The Episcopal Church USA to the

St. Mary’s at 781-3366.
In celebration
of Elsa Dalheim’s 97th birthday,
parishioners are invited to bring cards and warm wishes to next
Sunday’s Coffee Hour where Elsa will be presented a cake. Happy
Birthday Elsa!
Bible study next Sunday, June 22nd.
The lesson of the day are: Genesis 21:8-21, Psalm 86:1-10, 16-17,
Romans 6:1b-11, Matthew 10:24-39. Canon Coleman will be leading the
study and will focus on the story of Hagar as it contrasts with Jesus’
powerful language of splitting families in the Gospel reading.
Ordination Anniversary.
Dean Shambaugh will celebrate his 20th anniversary of
ordination on Tuesday, June 17th. Those who wish are
invited to stay after the 12:10pm service that day for the usual brown
bag lunch that traditionally follows the Tuesday service.
Walk for Pride.
Please join the Beloved Disciples as members walk in support of the
LGBT community in the 2008 Southern Maine Gay Pride Parade and
Festival. This year’s event will be held on Saturday, June 21st.
Meet on Preble Street in downtown Portland at 11:45am (look for the St
Luke’s banner). Following the parade will be a festival in Deering
Oaks Park from 1-5pm. All are welcome.

more information, please call Sallie Smith at 865-0539.
The Third
Annual Ice Cream Social.
All are invited to share
delicious ice cream and good conversation as we soak up the sun—or

after the 10am service. This is an annual event that celebrates the
soft air of summer and the fellowship of community. Interested in
being a soda jerk for the day? Call the Parish Office at 772-5434.
St. Luke’s Food
Pantry is
open Thursdays, 9:30-11am and the number of pantry visitors continues
to grow. Your donations of both food and money are greatly appreciated
and needed. Volunteers are also needed. Please call the Parish Office
if you are available to help, even it is just for the summer.
The Lambeth Conference.
From July 16th to August 4th Bishop Knudsen
and Bishop Lane will be gathering with Anglican bishops from around
the world in Kent, England for the Lambeth Conference. As this meeting
is designed to build community and connection within the Anglican
Communion, no legislation or official pronouncements are planned.
Instead, this is a time of Bible Study, sharing, and visioning about
how in the midst of our differences we can be one in Christ. Please
pray for our bishops, for the church and for all those at Lambeth. For

Our mission.
The mission of the Cathedral Church of St. Luke is to offer a
Christian community of welcome, inclusion, and support through a
ministry of faith and prayerful reflection, comfort and shelter in
times of trial or sorrow, and celebration of the grace and love of
Christ. St. Luke’s is the seat of the bishop and the chief mission
church of the diocese and people of Maine. Since 1851, St. Luke’s has
continued in its tradition of reaching out to the people of Portland,
surrounding communities and across the state. The Cathedral Church of
St. Luke is proud to be part of the 2.5 million member Episcopal
Church USA and the 75 million member world-wide Anglican Communion.
